The Department of Internal Medicine was established as a structural unit of the Educational and Scientific Institute "European Medical School" and reorganized in accordance with the Rector's Order No. 18-OD dated March 20, 2023.
The department is clinical and engages in educational, methodological, scientific activities, international cooperation, as well as diagnostic and treatment-consultative work.
The department's team consists of highly qualified professionals who work based on a friendly attitude toward students, respect for individuality, and fostering interest in the subject by providing opportunities for creative expression, free exchange of ideas, and creating an atmosphere of mutual respect among the team and between faculty and students.
The main goal is to prepare qualified medical specialists capable of organizing and performing professional activities at a high level, critically addressing issues in the medical field, and independently solving complex healthcare challenges. This includes applying acquired knowledge in patient examination, diagnosis, analysis of laboratory and instrumental data, providing care for somatic diseases and emergency conditions, conducting medical expertise, implementing innovations, and integrating into the European community.

- Engaging students in scientific research, preparing publications, and presenting at conferences.

Practical classes and lectures are conducted in both Ukrainian and English. Lectures utilize modern multimedia technologies, and practical sessions involve anamnesis, clinical, laboratory, and instrumental diagnostic methods. Students practice identifying key symptoms and syndromes, formulating preliminary and clinical diagnoses, and prescribing appropriate treatment following current guidelines and recommendations. Methods for organizing preventive work, conducting medical expertise, and healthcare management are also covered.
Knowledge is frequently tested through exams and quizzes. The department emphasizes teaching the latest, evidence-based data and pays special attention to students' practical and scientific work.
To foster clinical thinking, various forms of learning are offered: independent preparation of presentations and case studies by students, role-playing games, clinical case analysis, practicing case presentations, developing diagnostic and treatment algorithms, and working directly with patients.
Department staff regularly participate in national and international conferences, congresses, and seminars. All faculty members have publications in journals indexed in scientific databases such as Scopus and Web of Science.
One of the department's key areas of work is providing treatment and consultative services. The department maintains close collaboration with clinical bases. Students and interns are always welcomed to engage in clinical work, consultations, and the review of interesting clinical cases.
