It is a clinical department that combines theoretical training of students with practical work in medical institutions in the field of ophthalmology.

The main goal of the department is to provide students with deep knowledge in therapeutic and surgical ophthalmology, teach them modern methods of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of ophthalmological diseases, and develop professional competencies for working in contemporary clinical practice.
The department’s main tasks:
- Ensuring high-quality teaching of ophthalmology disciplines at an advanced educational, methodological, and scientific level;
- Training interns specializing in "ophthalmology";
- Training physicians in the secondary specialization program "ophthalmology";
- Developing and implementing programs for continuing education and professional development of doctors;
- Developing clinical thinking in students;
- Familiarizing students with the latest global advances in ophthalmology;
- Involving students in scientific research with the possibility of publishing results and presenting at conferences;
- Developing critical thinking and professional communication skills.

Practical classes and lectures are conducted in Ukrainian and English using modern multimedia technologies. During practical sessions, students develop skills in diagnosing and treating ophthalmological diseases, employing anamnesis, clinical, laboratory, and instrumental methods. Instruction is based on evidence-based medicine, which helps in developing clinical thinking and professional skills.
Therapeutic-consultative work is an important focus of the department's activities. Faculty members collaborate closely with medical institutions, involving students in clinical practice, consultations, and discussions of complex clinical cases, which reinforces theoretical knowledge through practical application.
