The Department of Fundamental, Medical and Preventive Disciplines is established as a structural unit of the European Medical School of International European University, which is aimed at providing educational services of training Masters of Medicine to provide doctors with the professional ability to solve healthcare issues in therapeutic, expert, organizational and other types of medical activities.

The Department is led by Vovk Oleksandra, Candidate of Medical Sciences, associate professor.

Key objectives of the Department: to teach fundamental disciplines at the high educational, methodical and scientific level, to carry out scientific research, to enhance the level of students’ general culture, to educate future doctors in a social and professional way.

The main goal of the Department of Fundamental Disciplines is to organize the deep and creative learning of theoretical academic disciplines included in the Krok Licensed Exam, to introduce the best achievements of leading Ukrainian scientists and scientists from the international European community to students, as well as to educate a holistic patriotic personality.

Areas of Department operations:

teaching appropriate disciplines in Ukrainian and English;
publishing educational and methodical literature in Ukrainian and English (study guides, methodical guidelines, lecture notes, etc.);
participation in regional and international conferences;
organization and operation of student research groups with advanced learning of particular disciplines;
training students for participation in All-Ukrainian and international student competitions, research paper competitions, conferences;
supervising research activities of students;
lecturers’ participation in professional associations according to the specialty.

The highly qualified academic staff of the Department ensure research and educational activities of the unit, helping students to explore basic medical disciplines.

Obligatory components of the educational program provided by the Department:

Medical and Biological Physics. Medical Informatics;
English for Professional Orientation;
Latin Language and Medical Terminology;
Medical Biology;
Medical Chemistry;
Microbiology, Virology and Immunology;
Occupational Safety and Health;
Bioethics and Medical Communications;
Pharmacology;
Hygiene and Ecology;
Social Medicine, Public Health;
Hygiene and Occupational Diseases, Health Care Organization.

Currently, the team of the Department is actively working on scientific publications (including in scientific and metric publications), scientific articles, abstracts, textbooks, methodical recommendations and other educational and methodical materials to improve the quality of education and worthily represent the Institute and the University at the All-Ukrainian and International levels.
